Rough week

We've had a rough week so far - well, not rough in the grand scheme of things, but you know what I mean... Thom John was gearing up for a big presentation on Tuesday afternoon, which went wonderfully(!!!), but the lead-up to it was pretty stressful. I woke up in a mood on Monday morning - an everyone-hates-me-I-guess-I'll-go-eat-worms kind of mood. Poor me. Instead of snapping myself out of this funk, I decided to wallow. When I was pregnant with Sean, I would have ended the day having a pity party on the couch. The guest list would include Pepper, myself, and some silly TV; the menu would probably include a fluffernutter sandwich, chips and salsa, and Frosted Mini Wheats. Instead, I put on my Mommy face for Sean and found myself cheered up considerably by Sean's conversations with the ducks in the creek: He also spent some time trying to pull pebbles out of the paved path: The babies have had a tough week, too . Each day Sean's had to either sit with the vice-principal or go to "Think Time" because of hitting and pushing his classmates. It seems he's been getting frustrated when playing and instead of using his words to tell his friends what's on his mind, he hits and pushes. We're working on using nice hands and using our words to express ourselves. Little Sister, meanwhile, seems to have her days and nights mixed up. She spends her nights rolling and stretching and hiccuping - all while Mommy's trying to get some sleep! At least tomorrow's Thursday - we're almost to the weekend!

No respect, I tell ya.

After daycare, I was walking out to the car with Sean in my arms. The little bug looked right into my eyes, gave me a big smile, and let loose the mother of all burps - right in my face!! Then, while fastening him into his carseat, he grabbed my face, pulled me close and screamed DA-DA! and broke into peals of laughter. Little stinker.

Cough-cough

Sean's got his second big cold - runny nose, clingy-cuddliness, hacking cough, pink cheeks, and fever - the works. And this time Sean is sharing the wealth - Thom John and I are ailing, too. Since Sean's not welcome back at daycare tomorrow, we'll swing by the pediatrician's and see if something can be done. Poor little babybear - add this to a night of hardcore teething!

Long week

Hours between now and early Saturday morning: 128
Miles between home and Omaha, Nebraska: 1,234
Having this blog to read and re-read over the next week? Priceless.

Mama is going to Omaha for work Monday morning and won't be back until very late Friday night. Thom John, Sean, and Pepper will take good care of each other this week while I will obsess over some of my favorite posts from the last six months.
I'll spend some time this week enjoying some shots of our afternoon walk today - we took advantage of what may be our last warm sunny day for a while and went to the drug store and stopped at the playground for some swinging.

Here's hoping this week flies by.

Hot Monday

We're hanging in there. It's still crazy-hot out today and I thought I could find refuge at the office, but apparently the building manager has no idea how to turn on the air conditioning!!

I'm in maternity clothes crisis mode. I've got a couple of tops that I can wear this week should the freakishly hot weather continue, but after Wednesday I may have to resort to wearing running clothes to the office. :-)

I felt a little "off" last night and then again when I woke up this morning. I thought about staying home today, but after showering and eating breakfast, I felt just fine. So, here I am, trying to pretend to care about work when I just really want to be home watching daytime TV and eating watermelon.

EDIT: I just went outside and it's gorgeous out. Not too hot at all. Now I'm trying to fight the urge to fake labor pains so that I can go home and sit on the deck with Pepper and a mocktail.

Familiar feeling - with a twist

It's Monday morning and I'm exhausted - I can barely keep my eyes focused on my computer screen. I feel absolutely wrecked. My hips ache, my knees creak, and my back is tight. Man, that 20-mile training run yesterday really kicked my... wait, what? Training run? I did no such thing yesterday! Well, what the heck are all these aches and pains about? Ohhhh, it must be the ginormous baby I'm toting around. :-P
