Bat-a-Thon

A couple of weekends ago, we went to our town's Rec Baseball fundraiser, the Bat-a-Thon.  Almost immediately after arriving, we spotted the Phillie Phanatic.  Sean was able to get a minute with him:

This is not the first time Sean met the Phanatic - once when Seanybear was little, I took him to the BIG Shoprite near us and while we were in the dairy aisle, the Phanatic came along, leading a conga line down the aisle.  He gave Sean a high-five and threw a few boxes of Tastycakes in our cart - Sean was delighted at seeing the "green giggie!"

Anywho, after rubbing elbows withe Phanatic, we met up with Sean's team for the batting part of the Bat-a-Thon.  I could tell that these boys were not "little kids" since they could actually sit in a row and wait their turn to bat :-)

After batting, Seany got a medal from his coach:

Once everyone n his team had a turn batting, the team assembled for team and individual pictures:

It was a hot, muggy day.  So we got the kids some water ice while we hung around to watch Sean's teammates participate in a pie-eating contest.  Right before the contest started, Sean said he wanted to be in the contest too.  So we asked for a vanilla pie for him and set him up in his spot-

After about one minute the boy to Sean's left was declared the winner.  Sean and the other boys were pretty upset at not winning the contest but they got over it pretty quickly.  Clare was happy to help Sean finish his:

Riversharks

Besides going to the Farmer's El opening day, on the first day of May we also went to a Camden Riversharks game!  Sean's school offered tickets to sit right behind homeplate in order to cheer on the fifth grade chorus, who sang the National Anthem before the game.  Sean wanted to wear his baseball jersey and the kids both brought their gloves :-)

Flashback to the last time we were here in June 2012:

We had good seats and we actually sat in them for quite awhile before the kids got really antsy, so we walked along the concourse and even caught the end of the Kentucky Derby on a TV.

The kids met Finn, the mascot:

Rita's break before the kids took a ride on the carousel:

"Do we have red tongues? Hahahahaha"

We headed back to our seats eventually and Sean started to find a few friends to play with while watching the game.  Clare and I took  selfies:

After the game, the kids went to watch the players go back to the locker room:

And then they tried their hands at the charity promotion that night - throwing tennis balls at various targets on the field.  Neither Sooy kid hit anything but that's okay because right after this was...

Birthday BBQ

We had our annual birthday barbecue for the kids' birthdays last Saturday.  Clare was up bright and early Saturday morning to help me make Sean's birthday cake.  Once the cake was baked and the boys went to Sean's baseball game, we went to the Farmer's El to get a special element to the BBQ menu.  Clare was so giddy over the fact that it was "just the girls" at the Farmer's El!

We had a morning snack while admiring the pretty centerpiece:

The party got started at about 3 and kicked off with some baseball in the backyard:

I made sure to get photos with the birthday kids, even though I couldn't get them together:

And then it was time to eat!  First course was - clams!  This is what Clare made sure we went to the Farmer's El to get for the party :-)

After dinner, we played pinata - thanks to Aunt Alice!

And after the pinata, it was time for presents and cake!

This year, Sean requested a Ninja Turtles cake...

...and Clare wanted a Frozen cake!

The weather stayed nice for the whole party and I think everyone had a good time - celebrating our SIX and FOUR year old!
