Splishy Splashy

The Sooy Babies love bathtime - Sean usually gets a bath first while Clare reorganizes the bathroom cabinets and tries to unroll the toilet paper.

After Sean gets his 'jammas on and has his vitamins, it's Baby Clare's turn!

Meanwhile, Sean brushes his teeth...

and when Clare is done with her bath, she absolutely must turn off the lights.

After a round of hearty clapping for herself, it's time for Clare's 'jammas, vitamins, and teeth-brushing, it's books and bed for the Babies!

Doughnut break

One morning at the beach, we went out for a "special treat" as Sean says - doughnuts! We visited Shore Good Donuts - a place that makes doughnuts fresh and dresses them up any way you like. I had no idea what Sean would like, but luckily he just pointed to the shop's logo and said, "I want THAT ONE, Mommy - chocolate syrup and sprinkles!!!"  Sure thing, Seanybear!

Clare and Mommy shared a doughnut coated in sugar and cinnamon - yum!

On the walk back, we stopped to look at these "Tiki friends" at a surf shop. Sean gave each one a name and chatted with a few and then we headed over to the playground to run off all our newfound energy!

Shhhhh!

Don't tell Sean, but one day while he was napping at the beach, we took Baby Clare mini-golfing. :-)  She explored all the obstacles thoroughly and chased down our golf balls. She also spent a good deal of time putting her sippy cup into the holes.

I think we have a new mini-golf pro in the family :-)

Movie night

Wow - it's nearly the end of August already!  We've been enjoying each and every minute of it with trips to the beach, going on daytrips, and doing special things like watching an outdoor movie at a nearby park! We saw "Happy Feet 2" under the stars - actually it was under cloudy, imminent thunderstorm-y skies, but we had a good time, anyway.

Clare snuggled up on a blanket while Sean sat on Daddy's lap.

The kids liked the movie - they laughed and sang and danced along with the music (or "muse-kick" as Sean says). Sean's favorite characters were the elephant seals (or walruses to Sean) and he referred to the movie afterwards as the "Walrus movie."

Ben Franklin Bridge

We took the Sooy Babies on a close-to-home adventure on Sunday - a trip over the walkway on the Ben Franklin Bridge!  We parked our car in Camden at a Rutgers parking lot and then carried the stroller up a long flight of steps and away we went:

Looking down at the Race Street Pier, which is under the bridge.  Also, a peek at the PATCO train tracks that run under the walkway:

The babies were not impressed:

When we got off the bridge, we walked over to the Race Street Pier for a little break and a view of the underside of the bridge.

Still sleeping...

We walked down Columbus Blvd to Penn's Landing and headed over to Market Street.

Oh, look who's up!  Just in time for a snack :-)

After our snacks and the kids stretched their legs for a bit, we made our way back to the bridge - passing Independence Hall along the way:

Back to New Jersey!

Trucks!

We took the kiddies to a Touch-a-Truck event near us yesterday and I think they had a blast. There were all sorts of trucks at the event, like this army truck:

And of course there were fire trucks:

The kids had fun "driving" the Fire Chief's truck:

Sean got in the cab of this tractor trailer and even got to beep the horn:

And then he hopped up in a school bus:

Sean liked beeping the horn in this 1940's dairy truck, too:

Sean felt at home in this truck - he just grabbed the gear shift and tried to drive away:

The kids climbed into the Wells Fargo wagon, too:

It was a fun and hot afternoon and both kids grabbed a nice nap when we got home. Hooray for trucks!
