A highlight of our day in Cape May was visiting the Cape May aviation museum.
The first plan we checked out was a Grumman F-14 Tomcat:
When we got inside the hangar, we ran right up the real air traffic control tower that used to be at Atlantic City's Bader Field. After the tower, the kids spotted this mini helicopter - it used to be a ride and Morey's Piers in Wildwood - the kids couldn't get enough of this thing!
We were able to pry them away from the helicopter long enough to sit in the cockpit of this fighter jet:
After a quick tour of the 1940's exhibit room and the Coast Guard Exhibit room, we went outside to go inside a few more planes and helicopters:
After the airplane museum, it was time to hit the road to catch a ferryboat to Delaware! We had to wait a bit for the next ferry, so Thom John took Sean mini-golfing and Clare played on the playground. Before we knew it, it was time to get back in our cars so we could board the ferry!

After sunset, the kids started to wind down, so we went inside to get a little rest. Soon it was time to get back in the car and disembark in Lewes, Delaware. Once back in the car, the kids fell asleep pretty quickly and when they woke up, we were in our Labor Day vacation spot - St. Michaels, Maryland!
