Little Kicks

Seanybear started a six-week soccer league in March! The first week few weeks took place indoors at a local elementary school. Each session always started with a warm-up and stretching:

Sean was introduced to "carrot hands" which means he holds his arms behind his back to ensure he doesn't touch the ball with his hands:

At the end of each session, Sean would sit down in a nice, neat line with his "soccer friends" and wait his turn to get ...

... a patch!  The first week he got a "B" for being Brave:

The second week he got a blue and yellow soccer ball patch for being a good sport:

Sometimes Mommy and Daddy get to play, too:

The third week he got a patch with a lightning bolt on it for hustling:

The kids not only learned ball skills and the basic rules of the game, but they also did drills to build their listening skills and to learn to play nicely with their soccer friends. On the fourth week, Sean got a smiley face patch for having a good attitude and playing nicely :-)

The fifth week, it was warm enough to play outside!

Sean got a "T" for teamwork during Week 5:

Most of the time during the last session, the kids played a scrimmage with 2 or 3 balls in play. Sean would get frustrated when the bigger kids would take control of the ball, but then he decided to play defense.

For the last week, the kids were allowed to pick their own patches - Sean chose the "B" for bravery patch again!

After Little Kicks, we got a treat - chocolate milk for Clare (don't squeeze the box, Clare!) and vanilla milk for Sean ("chocolate is too sweet for me")

Even though Little Kicks is over, Sean is starting a new soccer program this weekend - Kiddie Soccer.  Although Sean is under the impression that we are going to Kitty Soccer.  :-)
