Pinkalicious

We took the kids into Philadelphia one Sunday for a spot of theater.  We saw "Pinkalicious: The Musical" - it's a musical version of one of Clare's favorite books.  Since it is one of Clare's favorite books, we have read it a lot and so Sean knows the story very well, too.  The show was at the Walnut Street Theatre:

We got to the theater with a few minutes to spare so we could absorb the surroundings. read through the Playbill, and pose for some pictures...

The kids LOVED the show - it was about an hour long, which was perfect for the Sooy Kids.  There was a lot of singing and some audience participation, which Sean liked a lot.  There was one scene in which Pinkalicious' parents pretended they couldn't find her, and they asked for the audience to help them and Sean's voice was heard above the rest - "She's in the pink peony flowers!!!!"

After the show, we went to a nearby pub for lunch:

The pub's decor was super-busy which provided plenty of "Eye-Spy" opportunities while we waited for our food...

And then, we hit up Philly Cupcakes for some dessert - a pink cupcake for Clare and a chocolate-covered pretzel (YUM!) for Sean.

Easter fun ... pre-school style

Here's a post that's been sitting in my draft folder for about a year and was never published...enjoy!

We've been busy bunnies since St. Patrick's Day learning about Easter and springtime in general.  At home, we made little nests with yarn to hold some glittery eggs that, according to Sean, "were left by a beautiful chicken." Yup.

After a few days, those eggs hatched!  We were left with 2 little chickies and a bunny (hop hop).

Sean named his chickie Duffy and Clare named hers Ducky.  Duffy's favorite food is walnuts, in case you were wondering :-)

Sean showed off the bunny bag he made for a springtime egg hunt at school:

Clare had an egg hunt, too.  Her eggs were filled with Cheerios (Chee-yos!).

Do NOT ask Clare if you can have a Cheerio - it makes her cranky:

Grocery Shopping

How do we keep the peace on a trip to Shoprite?  Bagels and hugs, of course! And You Tube videos from the movie Frozen when the bagels are eaten and the hugs get too rough :-)

San Diego Zoo

One of the most highly-anticipated stops on our San Diego trip was the ZOO!

We made the zoo our first stop on our trip, so the kids were still a little travel-worn.

But they perked up quickly once we got on the zoo bus to take a tour around the zoo before tackling the place on foot.  We saw so many different animals and plants!  Plus, the zoo was all dressed up for the holidays...

We even got to see a newly-born giraffe!

Later in the day, we took a break for lunch and potties...

...and found a vending machine that had Gackies for sale!! (I would later regret not buying gackies from this machine when Clare lost both of her Gackies on the trip.  Thank goodness CVS sells them, too.)

Despite the look on Sean's face in this picture, the kids had a great time at the zoo! 

Kindergarten Registration

We registered Sean for kindergarten this week at our local public elementary school!  We met up with some of Seany's friends from Pre-K before going inside the school.  

We filled out some paperwork, then Sean went off with a teacher for a one-on-one interview.  He passed his screening with flying colors!  While I met with the school nurse to go over Sean's medical history and vaccinations, Sean's future teacher read a couple of books to a small group of children.

Sean decided he likes this new school and he was excited to hear about the "Kindergarten Tea" we get to go to in June.

After registration, we went out on a little lunchdate with one of Sean's best pals and her mommy.  These two have known each other since the infant room:

After lunch, we went to our town's "big playground" where the kids ran around and around playing games of tag, "Star Wars", and "Princess and Bad Witch".
