Wedding fun

Last weekend we went to the wedding of one of Thom John's good friends from high school, Heather. It was a beautiful day, a beautiful wedding, and a fun reception. Thom John was an attendant for the bride, so it was a busy day, too.

I tried to get a good photo of Thom John at the ceremony looking handsome in his suit but...

Sean quickly took over the camera. Here's his trademark self-portrait:

After the ceremony, Thom John went to take photos and do some attendant stuf while we went to the car for a bottle (for Sean) and a nap (for mommy and Sean).

Yum, dinner rolls. Sean also loved the crackers and tried a little of my dinner, but stuck with the stuff we brought from home. Mmm, turkey dinner puree.

Another little baby (it was her first birthday!) for Sean to party with! He also impressed the reception crowd with his rendition of "the worm" and got a little hands-y with the bride. What a party animal.

We stayed until cake was served, because, well - cake's worth the wait! We ended up leaving around 9:30 - 2 hours past Sean's bedtime! He was a trooper!

The next morning Sean was up bright and early with no visible signs of wear and tear:

Movin' on up

Actually, I mean pullin' on up! In the last couple of days Sean has been pulling up on everything on his own - he can pull up in his crib at home and school, he pulls up on toy bins and chairs, and he even tries to pull himself up in the bathtub.

He's also been cruising along the railing in his crib and between the couch and coffe table at home. AND Mister Sean has been spotted crawling on all fours a few times! I've got to try to catch our little mover on video this weekend!

Another Saturday, another 5K

What a difference a bit of sunshine makes! Two Saturdays ago, Thom John and I ran a 5K on a miserable day - rain, wind, a giant hill - but we both got good times and neat shirts.

This past Saturday, we all - even Sean - ran another 5K and had a blast. The sun was shining, the air was warm with a cool breeze and even the hill didn't seem so bad. I got an extra dose of good-feelings when a lady on line for the bathroom asked me if I was a student at the high school that was hosting the race! As for the results, I came in with a great time - a personal record! And Thom John and Sean came in shortly after me, even with Thom John's heel throbbing from plantar fasciitis.

As I wrote in Sean's 10 month post, bath time is pretty big around here these days. Sean loves to play, splash, sing, talk, and teeth in the tubby.

Ten Months!

Wow, the big one-oh! Here's what you're up to:

-You are alway on the move. You are so over crawling and you are itching to walk! Forget toys, the best way to keep you happy is to walk you around the room a couple hundred times or so.

-Your appetite is so varied these days. One day you love corn, one day you hate it. One day you're throwing a tantrum at daycare about green beans and the next you're gulping them down. Our one guarantee is bananas (knock on wood)- you loooove bananas! School lunch has opened so many doors for you - pasta, soup, french toast - everyday it's something new.

-We've all seen your emerging talent at mastering the sippy cup.

-Bathtime is quickly becoming a highlight of our day - you love to splash and play and you'd stay in the tub until your lips turn blue if it were up to you.

-You babble all the time, mostly "dadadadada" but sometimes we get "mama" and "baba"

-You've taken to shaking and nodding your head so it looks like you're saying "no" and "yes"

-You're such a sweet litte thing. You love to hug and get tickled!

-You've got about 8 teeth now and could there be more on the way? They way you keep gnawing on your fingers and constantly drool tells us that there may be more coming.

Sippy Zippy

Sean's teachers and his mommy and daddy are "presenting" the sippy cup to Sean more and more so he gets used to the idea. He's still young and not quite ready, but practicing makes for good times:

We have truly been enjoying the semi-springlike weather these past few days! We've been on lot of walks, visited the playground to swing a couple of times, and have just generally enjoyed a weekend without snow for a change.

No worries little garden turtle, you'll be free soon!

Odds n' Ends from daycare

Sean was served the school lunch for the first time last week! His teachers will give him the fruits and veggies that get served to the older babies - he's ready!! They are also working with him on drinking from a sippy cup. So far we haven't been too successful with the cup at home, but hopefully this extra practice will make him a sippy star.

One night this week, when I arrived to pick up Sean, he was hanging out in the toddler room and sitting with his pals, a set of twins who are nearly 2 years old. Twin 1 was kissing Sean on the head and Sean responded by patting him roughly on the face (okay, it was hitting - but he's nine months old!). Twin 2 then scolded Sean by saying, "Nice hands - baby Sean - nice hands!"

Sean's crib was moved over to the side of the room where the older babies sleep! More and more little babies are arriving in the infant room (including another Sean!) and a lot of Sean's older friends have been "aging up" to the toddler room.

And finally, Sean can drink his bottle by himself. His teachers put him in a chair and let him drink away. Apparently he's also content to lay in the chair for a few minutes after a bottle and watch the others play - which is good for helping him digest a bit before he's on the move again.

After daycare, I was walking out to the car with Sean in my arms. The little bug looked right into my eyes, gave me a big smile, and let loose the mother of all burps - right in my face!! Then, while fastening him into his carseat, he grabbed my face, pulled me close and screamed DA-DA! and broke into peals of laughter. Little stinker.
