Go Giants!

It was a bad week for the Giants, but that didn't dampen Sean's team spirit:

Fall break!

Woo hoo! Mommy is done with the first of two classes she's taking this semester! I've got this week and this weekend off and then I start my second class on Monday. Dad is motoring through his course this semester and we both can't wait for a nice, long break at Christmas time. Sean, you're doing great. You had a teeny, tiny cold last week with sniffling and coughing, but you seem to be over it now. And tonight, you decided to throw the normal bedtime routine out the window and fall asleep with Daddy on the couch.

This let Mommy eat some dinner with a glass of wine while catching up with the season premiere of "Ugly Betty" online! Woo! Fall break!!

5 months old!

Happy five months, Sean!

This fifth month really flew by! We were super busy, but we had help from Auntie Made, your grandparents, and Aunt Aunt Alice to babysit you while mommy and daddy went to a U2 concert, mommy's (fake) high school reunion, and a wedding in Baltimore. You did so well each time we left you - you're such an easy-going guy! What else did we do? This month you and I went to cheer on daddy as he shattered his PR at the Philly Distance Run. Aaaand, you helped me wish daddy a very happy birthday - he turned the big 3-0!!!!!

It's so amazing to watch you grow. Each day it seems you learn to do something new. Here's what you did in the fifth month:

-the big one was starting to eat solid foods! You love your rice cereal and your oatmeal. You've just started green beans and the previous post shows how much you loved trying those.

-you reach for objects in front of you, like toys, food, daddy's nose, my glasses, etc.

-you've gotten mad at me a couple of times for taking toys away from you. To be fair, they weren't really toys, but pieces of junk mail that you had gotten your mitts on.

-you can pass toys from one hand to the other

-you love to alternate your high-pitched screams with razzes in rapid succession

-you are so smiley, giggly, and ticklish!!!

-you've stopped sleeping through the night (wah), but generally you take a bottle and go back to sleep soon after that (yay)

-you put anything you can get your little hands on into your mouth and you gnaw and gum on things to no end. Also, you drool like a leaky faucet, adding to the need for you to wear a bib all the time.

And here are some shots from your photoshoot with Winnie:

Green beans, Sean?

No thanks, mom.

We'll try again tomorrow.

Socks

Sean's noticing his feet more and more. And he's noticing the socks that cover his feet - but he prefers them in his hands.

Pushing up

We're busy bees here at the Sooy household. Sean is growing so fast! He can push up really high on his elbows and shuffle his legs around - he's thisclose to crawling - or at least inchworming!

Report Card

Sean's "report card" from daycare today told us that he took 3 naps today and the longest was 25 minutes - totalling about an hour of sleep all day. Naughty baby! Here's what Sean thought of his report card today:

Eh, he seems fine:

Four-month well-visit

We headed back to the pediatrician's office Monday night for Sean's four-month visit. Sean was a brave solider through an oral vaccine and four shots (having a bottle on standby certainly made him braver).

The little bugger is in the 50th percentile for his size, weighing in at 15lbs 4 oz, and measuring 24.75 inches long. His head measured 17 inches around, which I'm sure falls into the "tiny Einstein" category.

Baby's Phirst Game

It wasn't his first baseball game ever, but it was Sean's first Phillies game! We took the babe to the park on Sunday for some phun and we even got a certificate signed by Charlie Manuel to mark the occasion.
With Daddy:
Do you think he was excited?!?!

Eh, maybe not:

Happy Four Months, Sean!

So it's a little late, but we've been so busy!! But we always find plenty of time to sit with you and try to make you laugh. And you love to laugh! To get some giggles out of you, we make goofy faces, sing silly songs, tickle you, hold you high above our heads, and even fake sneezes.

You've learned a couple of new tricks, too:

-you can roll from your tummy to your back, although you don't do that very often since you really do prefer to be on your tummy.

-you've learned how to make really high-pitched squeaky-squealy, screaming noises. You've done it before, but now you know you're doing it, so you love to hear it... a lot.

-you've discovered your hands. You can bring your hands together and you can reach for things and put them in your mouth!

-you love to put fingers (yours, mine, daddy's) in your mouth and just gum on them

-you're just starting to notice your feet - you'll see them one day, but leave them alone for a couple of days and then find them again

Holiday weekend

Even though September started out chilly. . .

. . .we enjoyed a gorgeous day at the beach today. We met up in Belmar with Auntie Made, Sarah and Pat to feel the sand between our toes again.
