Four-month well-visit

We headed back to the pediatrician's office Monday night for Sean's four-month visit. Sean was a brave solider through an oral vaccine and four shots (having a bottle on standby certainly made him braver).

The little bugger is in the 50th percentile for his size, weighing in at 15lbs 4 oz, and measuring 24.75 inches long. His head measured 17 inches around, which I'm sure falls into the "tiny Einstein" category.

It wasn't his first baseball game ever, but it was Sean's first Phillies game! We took the babe to the park on Sunday for some phun and we even got a certificate signed by Charlie Manuel to mark the occasion.

Happy Four Months, Sean!

So it's a little late, but we've been so busy!! But we always find plenty of time to sit with you and try to make you laugh. And you love to laugh! To get some giggles out of you, we make goofy faces, sing silly songs, tickle you, hold you high above our heads, and even fake sneezes.

You've learned a couple of new tricks, too:

-you can roll from your tummy to your back, although you don't do that very often since you really do prefer to be on your tummy.

-you've learned how to make really high-pitched squeaky-squealy, screaming noises. You've done it before, but now you know you're doing it, so you love to hear it... a lot.

-you've discovered your hands. You can bring your hands together and you can reach for things and put them in your mouth!

-you love to put fingers (yours, mine, daddy's) in your mouth and just gum on them

-you're just starting to notice your feet - you'll see them one day, but leave them alone for a couple of days and then find them again

Holiday weekend

Even though September started out chilly. . .

. . .we enjoyed a gorgeous day at the beach today. We met up in Belmar with Auntie Made, Sarah and Pat to feel the sand between our toes again.

Here we go!

So. Now that we're settled into our routines of work, daycare, dogwalking, running, and sometimes cleaning (I'd rather sit and try to make the baby laugh than vacuum these days - very bad news for a househould with a black dog), we should try to add something else to the mix, right? Right? How about school? Yep, Thom John and Nora are going back to grad classes this week. Wish us luck!

It was another busy weekend for the Sooy Baby! Sean played hooky from daycare on Friday and his grandmommie and pop-pop took him to the beach. Mommy and daddy joined the fun on Saturday and then we all went to the airport on Sunday to see grandmommie and pop-pop off to Germany. We'll miss you!!!

The Littlest Spurs Fan

It's never too early to dress your infant son up in his (father's) favorite soccer team jersey and go watch a soccer match on tv in bar on a Sunday morning.

Sean cheered on Tottenham as they beat Liverpool during opening weekend of English Premiere League play. C'mon you Spurs!

Happy 3 Months!

Happy 3 months, Seany-bear! Everyday is a new adventure with you. We're having such a good time with you - it's fun to try to get you to smile and giggle. You're so chatty and love it when we sing to you and make goofy faces. You're starting to get ticklish under your neck and on the sides of your belly. You're constantly rolling over from your back to your belly - you even try it in the bath tub. You make eye contact so well and can follow people with your eyes when they move around the room. We can't wait to see what your fourth month holds!

Firsts

We've had a couple of firsts in the past few days. On Friday, Sean made his first "sick visit" to the pediatrician's. Sean's right eye has been a bit goopy and it turns out he has conjunctivitis. A few drops in his eye every day for a week ought to fix him right up.

Next, Sean's first day of daycare was today. I think he did okay - no complaints from him so far. The poor kid couldn't nap comfortably, though. It's the school's policy that babies sleep on their backs and our little boy prefers his tummy. The teachers had to keep trying to return him to his back while he slept. At home, we put him on his back, but he almost always immediately rolls over onto his tummy. I had to call the pediatrician to get a note to give to the daycare stating that sleeping on his tummy is okay for Sean. Now that daycare has the greenlight, maybe Sean can nap better tomorrow.

Busy bees

Mommy's first full week back at work was a blur - I'm so busy at work! It's good, though, because my brain is busy and I'm not focused on counting the minutes until I get to go home to my giggly, dribbly, chatty baby boy. We capped off our week with a visit to Long Beach Island to meet Sean's great uncles from Massachusetts.

Whew

What a time we had last week!

First, Sean was baptized last Sunday! It was a gorgeous day full of family and love and little Sean seemed to enjoy himself. He slept through most of the service but woke up just in time for the big event and then he charmed the whole congregation with his big smiles. Thanks to Uncle Dannie for the amazing photos of that great day.

Then it was three days full of errands, a library visit for storytime, and getting ready for dun-dun-dunnnnnn - mom to go back to work. I went back on Thursday and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be - mainly because the little guy was home with his daddy for two days. This week Sean is home with his Grandmommie and Pop-Pop, getting lots of attention, kisses, and bottles.
